Flood Risks

Flooding can happen almost anywhere and for numerous reasons. From snow melts to ocean waves, anyone can feel the effects and may have to face costly repairs if not prepared. Flooding is by far one of the most treacherous and deadly natural occurrences. Flash floods come quickly and with little warning. They combine the destructive power of water along with speed and force. Areas near rivers are at a higher risk as the water levels fluctuated for a multitude of reasons ranging from dam failures to heavy ice melts. Even on dry land flash flooding can occur. When soil is dry and compacted water cannot be easily absorbed, causing an increased risk of flood waters rising. Always be aware of the possible dangers in your location. Be vigilant during storm watches and always be prepared for a flood warning. If flood waters are imminent find the highest elevation possible at once! Having an emergency supply of fresh water and non perishable foods can be life saving and is always a good investment to have in your home and vehicle. Stay prepared and stay safe!
